Getting Over It App Details

A game I made For a certain kind of person To hurt them. • Climb up an enormous mountain with nothing but a hammer and a pot. • Listen as I make philosophical observations about the problem at hand. • Between 2 and ∞ hours of agonizing gameplay, depending. The median time to finish for my playtesters was 5 hours, but the mean was closer to ∞. • Lose all your progress, over and over. • Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of.

  • Annoying Until You Reach The Top Of The Mountain

It’s Just One Of Those Games Which You Never Think You’ll Complete. I Was At It For 2 And A Half Weeks. As I Reached The End, It Felt Like I Achieved Something. I Still Don’t Understand Why People Rage So Much Though. I Fell Down Plenty Of Times But I Never Got Mad. Anyway, I Give It 5 Stars
  • Doesn’t work

Opened it once, it was fine. Opened it the next day it broke. Can’t open it.
  • The most intentionally difficult game

Great game, looks fine on iPhone5s. You may not ever complete it, and you will lose hours of progress in seconds, but once you “get over it”, it’s actually sort of therapeutic. Edit: Recent update: The game loads correctly 1 in every 10 tries, other times it loads a broken map that’s frozen or just goes black screen. Sensitivity has been improved massively making the game playable again, but the cursor still jolts around even when slowly moving the hammer. The graphic options are great and the inclusion of a battery saver option is a nice touch too. Unfortunately it’s broken for me so, 1 Star. Edit again: A masterpiece. A true milestone in gaming history and a real work of art. Thanks Foddy.
  • Took me 2 weeks on iOS but I FINALLY MADE IT.

I love the supreme difficulty of this game which left me shaking when I finally made it and saw the credits. Excellent, you made me feel like I really earned this achievement. I actually prefer the iOS version as the touch interface and natural “flicking” the character around with my thumb felt more natural than a mouse. There are some performance issues I experienced on my slightly older iPad Mini from 2015, and sometimes specifically when jumping into a new area, the frame would freeze and cut to I’ve fallen down again, so this was my only gripe. I closed all apps, turned on airplane mode and rebooted and this helped a little, but please look into these issues for other players! Also when running on Battery Saver mode, the texture at the top of the mountain, at the base of the tower is a little too small, leaving a gap between radio tower and its base. LOVED THIS INFURIATING GAME. Must have fallen to the beginning at least 30 times. Managed to avoid that snake though! Fantastic!
  • Simply pure frustration

What a way to spend half an hour, getting no where, sore thumb, and then... you get over one hurdle and it feels amazing. Till you fall back down and have the most profound reassurance that basically this whole game just reflects life. Got over it, superb.
  • Good

    By JackRM98
It’s basically the same game as the Steam version but controls are a bit more awkward on mobile screen and graphics aren’t as good. Good amounts of options though and the addition of 60fps is brilliant and makes it much more enjoyable. As for the game, you already know what it’s like. It’s frustrating but you keep coming back to it, a Stockholm syndrome to say the least. Good fun though if you are a masochist. Edit: getting blank screens making it unplayable
  • Glitchy and wrong

When I turned sensitivity up it actually went down and vice versa. When I got to “Devil’s Chimney” the game has actually broke itself.
  • Bad port

    By 104873919
I assume this official port was made to cash in on the now hundreds of awful shovelware ripoffs on the App Store at the moment. But rest assured, this game is best played on a desktop/laptop. It just doesn't work properly on iOS. The movement is frustrating in a broken kind of way not the rewarding kind of way like the original. Not recommended. Awaiting refund.
